The team at YWCA Helena is busy responding as effectively as we can to the threat of COVID-19 in our community. Our needs are changing day by day. Please check back often for updates. (Updated 4/2/2020)
Here's how you can help today
1. GIVE GENEROUSLY
THE GOOD NEWS: Many of you have given and it's making a real difference to the women and children we serve. Thank you!
THE BAD NEWS: Giving is slowing down. Perhaps folks are worried about the own financial situations. We understand. But if you are able, please give today!
2. SEW MASKS FOR THE WOMEN AT YWCA
Every one of the women who live at YWCA Helena have at least one factor that could make them more vulnerable to COVID-19, some have several. Could you sew some masks for the women, which could help them avoid contracting the virus? Please use the video instructions suggested by St. Peter's Health below.
3. SUPPORT YWCA AND MURRY'S CAFE AT THE SAME TIME
We're excited to announce a special partnership with Murry's Cafe, our neighbor and one of Helena's most beloved local restaurants. Please click below to purchase a meal from Murry's for the women and children of YWCA Helena. Murry's will work with us to determine the best menu and date for the meal. Then, they'll prepare and deliver the meal on the designated night.
PLEASE NOTE: For tax purposes, this purchase does NOT qualify as a $200 cash donation to Murry's Cafe or YWCA Helena. This is purchase from Murry's and a subsequent in-kind donation to YWCA Helena, both of which are deeply appreciated and will be acknowledged. Thank you so much!
4. PROVIDE NEEDED ITEMS
There are many particular things that we need right including cleaning supplies, plastic & paper supplies, and shelf-stable food for kids' breakfasts, lunches, and snacks.
5. SHARE YOUR HOME COOKIN'
Stuck at home with time on your hands? Can you provide an evening meal (your favorite potluck dish perhaps?) for the women and children of YWCA Helena? Please call Molly for more information or to sign up at 406-438-7187.
We'll ask you to bring the meal at 4:00 p.m. on your assigned day. We know it's early, but since we're asking the women who live at YWCA Helena to use the communal kitchen in four shifts throughout the evening (social distancing!), the 4:00 p.m. delivery time is necessary. Thank you for your understanding, compassion, and generosity during this very difficult time.
6. DONATE GROCERY STORE GIFT CARDS
The women we serve are facing higher food needs now that schools and childcare centers have closed. Please consider mailing gift cards or dropping them off at 501 North Park Avenue between 9am and 4pm. We hope this will also take some of the pressure off of our friends at Helena Food Share.
7. SUPPORT THE LOCAL BUSINESSES THAT SUPPORT YWCA HELENA
As we all know, the threat of COVID-19 has been very tough on small businesses in our community. Please consider supporting these small businesses that support the work of YWCA Helena.
PLEASE NOTE: This is not an exhaustive list of the local businesses that support YWCA Helena. We will feature more businesses here soon!
