WINGS:
What, Who, When, Y & Where
YWCA Helena WINGS is a transitional housing facility offering Intensive Outpatient Services (ASAM 2.1) for women with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. Our gender-specific, trauma-informed approach supports women in building sustainable lives in recovery for themselves and their children.
What we provide:
-
Group and individual therapy (9-12 hours/week)
-
Minimal daily structure and UA testing (1-3x weekly)
-
Support with navigating systems like CPS and public housing
-
A community-focused environment that fosters self-awareness, relationship-building, and conflict resolution
WINGS serves as a long-term bridge between inpatient treatment to independent recovery, with stays typically lasting 6 months to 3 years.
What We Do Not Provide:
-
Housing for women who already have stable housing
-
High-structured environments or 24/7 staff support
-
Medical care for chronic or acute conditions
-
Assistance with daily living tasks (e.g., cooking, bathing)
-
Crisis housing, short-term care, detox, or transportation
-
Services for individuals in active use, recent regular use (past 30 days), or those needing inpatient-level care
Who We Serve:
WINGS is for adult women who are highly motivated to make lasting changes in their recovery.
Applicants must be:

Ready to focus entirely on stabilization and recovery (not employed for the first 90 days)
-
Stable enough to attend a rigorous therapy schedule (group + individual)
-
Able to manage free time, personal hygiene, and independent living
-
Willing to engage in community living and conflict resolution
While early recovery can bring some ambivalence, women must have enough motivation to manage the freedom and responsibility of our program.
When you make the commitment to the Program Structure, we provide:
-
Transitional Housing & Community Living
-
Sober living for women and their children (private bedrooms, shared common spaces)
